The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has opened a new district office in Jomoro in the Western Region to bring health insurance services closer to residents and improve access to healthcare.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister for Transport and Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey; the Paramount Chief of the Western Nzema Traditional Area, Awulae Kwasi Amachie III; and the Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe.
Also present were the Western Regional Director of the NHIA, Joseph Meneabeh Akpoh; the Municipal Chief Executive for Jomoro, Benedict Boadi; and other stakeholders.
The new office is expected to make it easier for residents to access services under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), bringing essential health insurance services closer to communities within the municipality.
The initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen the delivery of health insurance services and improve access to healthcare across the country.
Ms Affo-Toffey welcomed the development, describing it as an important milestone in efforts to improve healthcare access for residents of Jomoro.
She urged residents to enrol in the NHIS and renew their memberships regularly to enable them to benefit from healthcare services covered under the scheme.
The opening of the office is expected to strengthen the NHIA’s presence in the municipality and make health insurance services more accessible to residents.
