Discontent and frustration are simmering among members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awutu Senya West Constituency following the recent nomination of Kalala Nyamekye Eghan as District Chief Executive (DCE).
Several party members have expressed deep disappointment, accusing the sitting Member of Parliament, Hon. Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, of sidelining loyalty and hard work in favor of personal interests. According to aggrieved members, the MP ignored the contributions of Cassius Larbi, a long-serving and committed party activist, and instead recommended a candidate perceived to be a political “puppet.”

Speaking to this paper, a senior party elder in Senya described the MP’s actions as “ungrateful and selfish.”
“Look, this young man, Cassius, has sacrificed immensely for her over the years, even landing in police custody while advancing the MP’s political cause. Yet, she turned her back on him when it mattered most,” he fumed.
The frustration extends beyond the party’s elders. A branch Women’s Organizer in Awutu Breku questioned the competence of the newly nominated DCE, alleging that he lacks independence and decisiveness.
“The DCE cannot even express himself well and is waiting for the MP’s instructions before assuming office. How can such a person effectively serve the party’s interest?” she queried.
Further allegations have emerged suggesting that Hon. Tetteh-Agbotui has a track record of using loyal supporters for political gain only to discard them later. Sources within the constituency pointed to the removal of Michael Ampong, the former Constituency Communications Officer, as part of a broader pattern of undermining strong, independent voices.
“Gizella does not want any enlightened or independent-minded individuals around who can challenge her authority,” an anonymous constituency executive asserted.
Many grassroots members have reportedly expressed regret over supporting the MP’s re-election bid, accusing her of being increasingly insensitive to the needs and sacrifices of the party’s base.
The growing unrest within the NDC in Awutu Senya West threatens to widen internal cracks, posing a serious challenge as the party gears up for future political contests.
