A 32-year-old ex-convict has been arrested in Ashaiman for allegedly posing as a soldier and extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public.
The suspect, identified as Bright Atsu Kudiabor, was arrested by the Ashaiman Police on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at about 7:00 a.m.
Police said Kudiabor was apprehended at an area known as “I Shall Return”, where he was allegedly presenting himself as a soldier while demanding money from people.
He was first detained by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service with assistance from other individuals before being handed over to the Police.
A search of the suspect reportedly led to the recovery of a military camouflage uniform.
Kudiabor is currently in Police custody and assisting with investigations. He is expected to be put before court after the investigations are completed.
The Tema Regional Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and report anyone who falsely claims to be a soldier or a member of another security agency for the purpose of deceiving or extorting money from others.
