The Bunso Fire Station responded to two separate fire incidents at Anyinam and Akyem Asafo on Monday, September 7, 2026, with a commercial property partially damaged in one incident and a Mazda CX-7 completely destroyed in the other.

At Anyinam, near the main lorry station, firefighters received a distress call at 4:28 a.m. and arrived at 4:45 a.m. with a six-member crew led by ADO II Annan.

The fire, reportedly caused by an electrical fault, had already been extinguished before firefighters arrived. The crew conducted an overhaul to prevent the fire from reigniting.

Mattresses, a TV stand, wooden ceiling and plastic chairs were partially damaged, while two standing fans were completely destroyed. Gas cylinders, chairs, a mattress, bench and table were salvaged.

No casualties were recorded. The occupants were subsequently educated on fire safety.

Later that morning, the Bunso Fire Station responded to a vehicle fire involving a black Mazda CX-7 on the Accra-Kumasi Highway at Akyem Asafo.

The call was received at 10:33 a.m., and a seven-member crew led by ADO II Amankwah Dacosta arrived at 10:49 a.m.

According to the vehicle owner, an unusual sound came from the engine while he was driving. He stopped to inspect the vehicle and noticed smoke coming from underneath before it burst into flames.

Bystanders reportedly overturned the vehicle, which intensified the fire.

Firefighters used foam concentrate to extinguish the blaze at 11:10 a.m. The Mazda CX-7 was completely destroyed, but no casualties were recorded.

The cause of the vehicle fire remains under investigation.
