Two persons have died and six others sustained injuries following a fatal road crash at Dr. Marbel Junction on the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and involved a DAF truck with registration number BF 1722E6, a VW Sprinter bus with registration number ER 195-24 and a tricycle with registration number M-25-AS-8071.
This was announced by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), which said the Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded swiftly to the crash.
According to the GNFS, the crash left six people injured and two dead, while firefighters rescued one victim who was trapped under the DAF truck.
“The accident involved a DAF truck with registration number BF 1722E6, a VW Sprinter bus with registration number ER 195-24 and a tricycle with registration number M-25-AS-8071, leaving six people injured and two dead,” the GNFS stated.
It added that firefighters “rescued one victim trapped under the DAF truck and transported the casualty to Suhum Government Hospital.”
Preliminary findings by the Fire Service indicate that brake failure caused the DAF truck to lose control.
“Preliminary findings indicate that, brake failure caused the DAF truck to lose control, crashing into the Sprinter bus, which subsequently collided with the parked tricycle,” the GNFS said.
The tricycle was completely destroyed in the crash, while the DAF truck and the Sprinter bus sustained partial damage.
The GNFS has subsequently urged motorists to take vehicle maintenance and road safety seriously.
