Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire have taken another step towards strengthening bilateral relations following the relaunch of African World Airlines’ (AWA) Accra–Abidjan route.
The Deputy Minister for Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, represented Ghana at the relaunch ceremony held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The renewed air connection is expected to improve travel between the two countries while facilitating trade, investment and stronger people-to-people relations.
The relaunch also forms part of broader efforts to deepen economic cooperation between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire and support the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
In a remark, the Deputy Minister said the relaunch will improved air link and provide greater convenience for businesses, investors and travellers while creating opportunities for increased commercial exchanges between the two neighbouring countries.
She said development will further underscore the importance of reliable regional air connectivity in promoting integration and expanding economic opportunities across Africa.
She concluded that Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their partnership through improved connectivity and closer cooperation, with the renewed route expected to contribute to deeper economic and social ties between the two countries.
