The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has officially launched activities to commemorate its 40th anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to stakeholder collaboration, innovation and sustainable growth.
The anniversary launch brought together key stakeholders from the maritime, shipping, logistics and trade sectors to celebrate four decades of the Authority’s contribution to Ghana’s economic development.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Director-General of GPHA, Major General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, expressed appreciation to the Authority’s stakeholders, particularly its staff, for their dedication and contributions towards building GPHA into the institution it is today.
He said the anniversary provided an opportunity for the Authority to reflect on its achievements, deepen engagement with stakeholders and strengthen partnerships as it works towards achieving its vision and mission.
The Board Chairman of GPHA, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to ensuring that the Authority continues to play a pivotal role in Ghana’s development.
He said GPHA would remain a catalyst for economic development, adding that the Board was focused on strengthening the Authority’s capacity and promoting the adoption of green port technologies to position it for the next 40 years and beyond.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah further said the Authority would continue to set benchmarks in the maritime and logistics industry while pursuing excellence and innovation in its operations.
He also expressed gratitude to stakeholders whose partnership and support, he noted, had contributed significantly to the growth and development of GPHA over the past four decades.
The 40th anniversary celebrations will feature a series of activities aimed at engaging staff, industry players and other stakeholders, while providing an opportunity to celebrate the Authority’s achievements and chart a path for the future.
The anniversary is being celebrated under the theme: “40 Years of Service, Partnership and Progress — Building West Africa’s Trade and Logistics Hub.”
The launch was attended by stakeholders from the maritime and logistics sectors, alongside management and staff of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority.
