President John Dramani Mahama has made further changes to his government, reassigning three officials in what becomes his second ministerial reshuffle since returning to office for his second term.
The latest changes, announced by the Presidency on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, see Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo moved from the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Job Creation to become Minister of State for Special Initiatives, while Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum takes over the Labour, Employment and Job Creation portfolio.
Deputy Minister for Defence Ernest Brogya Genfi has also been reassigned as Presidential Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.
The changes come less than three weeks after President Mahama’s first major ministerial reshuffle of his second term, announced on August 7.
That exercise saw Kenneth Gilbert Adjei moved to the Defence Ministry, Ahmed Ibrahim reassigned to Works, Housing and Water Resources, while Mahama Ayariga and Dr Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings were nominated for ministerial positions.
The latest reassignments take immediate effect, according to a statement signed by Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
“President John Dramani Mahama has made the following changes to his Government,” the statement said.
Under the new arrangement, Pelpuo will oversee Special Initiatives, while Agyekum assumes responsibility for Labour, Employment and Job Creation.
