Ghana’s Ambassador to Brazil, His Excellency Nii Amasah Namoale, has participated in the opening ceremony of “Memória Viva – Brasileiros no Japão” (Living Memory – Brazilians in Japan) in Brasília.
The Ambassador was specially invited by the organisers to join community leaders, diplomats, scholars and other distinguished guests at the event, which explored the experiences, memories and contributions of Brazilians who have lived and worked in Japan.
The exhibition and accompanying programme seek to preserve and document the experiences of the Brazilian community in Japan, with a focus on migration, identity, family, culture and the longstanding connections between Brazil and Japan.
Ambassador Namoale took part in a series of lectures and discussions during the opening ceremony and later joined a guided tour of the exhibition.
During the tour, he was introduced to historical accounts, personal testimonies and visual materials documenting the lives and experiences of Brazilians in Japan.
Held under the theme “Nossa História” (Our History), the exhibition highlights the importance of preserving the stories of migrant communities and recognising their contributions to the cultural and social development of contemporary societies.
The Ambassador said initiatives that preserve the memories and experiences of migrant communities were important not only for historical documentation but also for promoting mutual understanding, respect and solidarity among nations.
His participation also provided an opportunity to engage with members of the Brazilian and Japanese communities and other participants, underscoring the role of cultural exchange in strengthening diplomatic relations and international cooperation.
The Ghana Embassy in Brasília continues to support initiatives that promote cultural understanding, dialogue and partnerships, as part of efforts to deepen relations between Ghana, Brazil and the wider international community.
