The Ghana Education Service (GES) has activated the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) portal for the online capture and uploading of candidates’ school selection data for the 2026 placement exercise.
In a directive dated Monday, August 24, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the GES said the portal would be available from Monday, August 24, to Thursday, August 27, 2026, for Heads of Junior High Schools (JHSs) to submit candidates’ school choices.
The Service said the exercise forms part of preparations for the 2026 placement exercise and directed headteachers who had not completed the uploading of candidates’ school choices on the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) portal for pre-testing to do so by close of work on Monday, August 24.
They are then required to capture and upload the candidates’ school selection data on the WAEC portal within the stipulated period.
The GES said the WAEC portal has been configured to allow the same school ID and password to be used simultaneously on multiple computers.
“This facility will enable schools with large numbers of candidates to capture and upload data concurrently, thereby facilitating the timely and efficient completion of the exercise,” the Service stated.
The Service has also directed Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education, as well as Examination Coordinators, to closely supervise and monitor the exercise.
They are expected to ensure that the data of all eligible candidates are duly captured, verified and submitted within the stipulated period.
The GES further requested Regional Directors of Education to communicate the directive to all relevant schools within their jurisdictions and ensure strict compliance.
