The Cocoa Marketing Company Limited (CMC), a subsidiary of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), has officially joined government institutions adopting the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development initiative.
The programme, launched under the theme “Load 24, Offload 24, and Export 24,” is aimed at transforming CMC’s operations into a continuous, round-the-clock system to improve efficiency and strengthen Ghana’s position in global cocoa trade.
Speaking at the launch, COCOBOD Board Chairman and Special Adviser to the Vice President, Dr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, commended the management and staff of CMC for their efforts to reposition the company to support the government’s economic transformation agenda.
Presidential Adviser on the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development, Goosie Tanoh, said the initiative was designed to create jobs, build economic resilience and connect local economies more effectively to international markets.
He said expanding round-the-clock operations would help improve cross-border trade and create greater opportunities for Ghanaian businesses.
The Chief Executive of COCOBOD, Dr Randy Abbey, outlined a number of administrative and policy measures being implemented to enable CMC to operate efficiently under the 24-hour cocoa operations framework.
He also highlighted the recently passed Ghana Cocoa Board Bill, 2026, saying the legislation seeks to protect cocoa farms from destruction while safeguarding the incomes of cocoa farmers.
Dr Abbey urged stakeholders in the cocoa industry to embrace the new legislation and support efforts to strengthen the sector.
For his part, the Managing Director of CMC, Dr Wisdom Dogbey, described the restructuring of the company’s operations as an economic strategy aimed at moving key activities from traditional daytime schedules to continuous operations.
According to him, the move will enable CMC to align its activities more closely with international trading cycles and improve the country’s ability to compete in the global cocoa market.
Dr Dogbey expressed optimism that the initiative would significantly transform the way CMC conducts business with international partners and contribute to increased efficiency and export growth.
