Former Energy Minister and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, has congratulated the party’s newly elected regional executives following the conclusion of the regional elections across Ghana’s 16 regions.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh also commended all aspirants who offered themselves for leadership positions and contributed to the party’s reorganisation process.
In a message following the elections, he urged unsuccessful candidates not to withdraw from the party’s activities, stressing that their experience, commitment and capabilities remain important to the NPP’s rebuilding efforts.
He called on all members to put the internal contests behind them and unite around the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections.
According to him, the party’s focus must now shift from internal competition to strengthening its structures, mobilising its grassroots and working collectively towards electoral victory.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh said the contributions of both elected executives and defeated aspirants would be critical to the NPP’s efforts to reorganise and reposition itself ahead of the next general elections.
He therefore encouraged party members to remain committed to the NPP and work together towards the common objective of returning the party to power in 2028.
