DISREGARD NPP-FUELED PROPAGANDA ON FREE SHS – NDC
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on Ghanaians to ignore attempts by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to misrepresent comments made by journalist Ohemaa Benz on the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
In a statement signed by Abass Nurudeen, the Ashanti Regional Communication Officer of the NDC, the party dismissed the circulating video featuring Ohemaa Benz, describing it as a deliberate effort by the NPP to distort facts.
According to the NDC, Ohemaa Benz, a journalist with Agyapa TV and a regular panelist on the Atene show hosted by El Lizato, is a known critic of the NDC and President John Dramani Mahama. The party maintains that her personal views on Free SHS do not reflect the official position of the Mahama administration.
“She is widely recognized as one of the fiercest critics of H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the NDC. Attempts to twist her words as the stance of the Mahama administration are dishonest and must be disregarded,” the statement read.
The NDC used the opportunity to reaffirm President Mahama’s commitment to improving the Free SHS policy. “President Mahama remains dedicated to enhancing the program, making it more effective, inclusive, and accessible to all Ghanaian children,” it said.
The party further accused the NPP of resorting to propaganda tactics to distract from their own governance failures and undermine the NDC’s agenda for quality education in Ghana.
The NDC is urging Ghanaians to remain focused on the party’s promise to strengthen the Free SHS policy under a Mahama-led government and to reject any attempts to sow confusion through misinformation.
