Beatrice Owarewa Siaw, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Council of Patrons and an aspiring parliamentary candidate for the Mampong Constituency, has died.
Siaw, popularly known as Nana Yaa, is said to have passed away at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) after reportedly experiencing sudden weakness.
According to a close source, Siaw had been making preparations to travel to China when concerns were raised after she became unreachable.
The source reportedly contacted her uncle, who also indicated that he had been unable to reach her.
It later emerged that Siaw had driven herself to KATH.
Upon arrival, she was reportedly asked about the purpose of her visit and complained of feeling weak before she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Her vehicle has since been taken to a police station as family members await further information and begin arrangements following her death.
Siaw’s death comes as a shock to the NPP community, particularly supporters in the Mampong Constituency, where she had expressed interest in contesting the parliamentary seat.
