A National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch organiser for the Agona West Constituency in the Central Region has reportedly been arrested by the Ghana Police Service over alleged offensive and defamatory comments made about former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on social media.
The suspect, identified as NDC branch organiser was reportedly arrested over alleged defamatory comments about Bawumia.
Prince Aboagye 38, is said to have been taken into police custody after a video circulating online allegedly showed him making a series of allegations against Dr. Bawumia, who is the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
According to reports, Aboagye is alleged to have accused Dr. Bawumia of criminal conduct and personal misconduct during remarks captured in the viral video.
The alleged comments have attracted widespread attention on social media and are said to have prompted police action.
The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued an official statement detailing the circumstances of the arrest or the specific charges, if any, that have been brought against the suspect.
The allegations made in the video remain unsubstantiated, and there is no publicly available evidence supporting the claims against Dr. Bawumia.
