Former Eastern Regional Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Emmanuel Okai Mintah, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of National Youth Organiser of the party, promising to champion the interests of young members and strengthen the youth wing ahead of the 2028 general election.
In a declaration of intent titled “Reclaiming the Future”, the former Chairman of the NDC Youth Wing Working Committee and current Board Chairman of the National Service Authority, said his years of service within the NDC have equipped him with the experience needed to lead the party’s youth wing.
“The NDC is not just a party to me; it is my life’s work and my purpose. I have dedicated my entire adult life to building this Party and its Youth Wing from the grassroots to the national level.”
Mr. Mintah, who also served as Head of Operations for the NDC National Youth Wing Campaign during the 2024 elections, said the office of National Youth Organiser must be dedicated to creating opportunities for young party members rather than serving as a ceremonial position.
“The National Youth Organizer must firmly and relentlessly push our appointees to open real opportunities for the NDC youth base. That work is not a part-time duty nor a ceremonial title. It must be a relentless crusade.”
Outlining his vision, he pledged to establish a Correspondence Desk to receive complaints, concerns and requests from the party’s youth across the country.
“As a first practical step, I will establish a Correspondence Desk system to receive complaints, concerns, and requests for opportunities from the youth base, and to ensure that no genuine concern is left unattended.”
He also promised to strengthen engagement with tertiary institutions, TEIN branches and youth structures nationwide as part of preparations for the 2028 general election.
Mr. Mintah further pledged to work closely with government appointees to ensure young party members benefit from employment and other opportunities.
“The surest way to win 2028 is to fight for opportunities for the very youth who toiled on the campaign. They stood with us, and now we must deliver for them.”
He also took aim at the opposition New Patriotic Party, claiming its youth wing lacks direction and innovation.
“Our opponents in the NPP have a dead youth wing, lifeless, idle, and out of ideas. In 2028, we will bury them, not with noise but with hard work, teamwork, ideas, and innovation.”
Mr. Mintah appealed to delegates and party members to support his bid when nominations open, promising to build a stronger and more effective NDC Youth Wing.
