The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Central Region has organised an advanced leadership and capacity-building workshop for district directors and administrators to strengthen their knowledge and skills in disaster and risk management.
The workshop focused on improving participants’ ability to identify potential hazards, respond effectively to emergencies and address challenges associated with disaster management.
Speaking at the event, the Central Regional Director of NADMO, Emmanuel Kwesi Ayensu Dawood, highlighted the importance of the training in equipping district directors with the knowledge and practical skills needed to manage disasters and prevent situations that could result in loss of lives and property.
He stressed the need for effective preparedness and timely interventions to minimise the impact of potential disasters.
The National Director of Inspections at NADMO, Mr Richard Amo Nartey, also highlighted some of the challenges confronting the organisation during its operations.
He cited difficulties associated with the demolition of dangerous and structurally unsafe buildings, commonly described as death-trap structures, and emphasised the need to strengthen staff education and capacity in disaster management.
