A 17-year-old final-year student of Mfantsipim Senior High School in Cape Coast, Emmanuel Arthur, has been found dead in an uncompleted building at OLA North, in what police suspect to be suicide.
According to police, the body was discovered on the afternoon of the incident by a carpenter who had gone to the site and immediately raised the alarm.
Officers who later arrived at the scene found the student hanging from a cloth tied around his neck.
Items recovered from a backpack at the scene included examination materials linked to Mfantsipim SHS, a mock test paper, a mobile phone, and personal belongings bearing the student’s name.
School authorities confirmed the identity of the deceased, while his family was informed.
Medical officials indicated the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition, leading to its immediate release and burial under health protocols.
Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death, which has left the school community and residents of Cape Coast in shock.
