The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has deployed a reinforcement team of operational officers together with armoured vehicles to Gushegu and Karaga in the Northern Region to strengthen security following recent disturbances in the area.
The deployment forms part of efforts by the Ghana Police Service to restore calm and prevent further escalation of tensions after reported clashes in the two towns.
According to authorities, the special team will work in collaboration with the Northern Regional Police Command to intensify patrols, maintain law and order, and enhance security across Gushegu, Karaga, and surrounding communities.
The move comes amid renewed concerns over security in parts of the Northern Region, where intermittent clashes have in the past disrupted normal activities and raised fears among residents.
Security analysts note that such deployments are often used as immediate interventions to stabilise volatile areas while longer-term peacebuilding measures are pursued.
The Police Service has assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, urging the public to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel as operations continue.
