The Ghana Police Service has deployed two armoured vehicles and additional personnel from the National Police Operations to the Nkwanta South Municipality following renewed violent attacks in the area. The move comes as authorities work to restore peace and ensure public safety.
According to a statement from the Dambai Regional Police Headquarters, five bodies—three males and two females—have been recovered from two separate locations by a joint team comprising the Police, Military, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Defence Intelligence, and the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attacks are ongoing. The police are urging residents to remain calm and assist security agencies with any information that could aid in apprehending the perpetrators.
“The people of Nkwanta and its immediate environs are urged to remain calm and to cooperate with security agencies by providing any relevant information that may assist with the ongoing investigations. The public is further urged to desist from misinformation and acts that have the potential to flare up passions,” the statement said.
The Inspector-General of Police’s swift deployment of reinforcements has reportedly helped restore calm in the municipality.
