A Ghanaian soldier is recovering after undergoing surgery for critical injuries sustained during a missile attack on the Headquarters of the Ghanaian Battalion serving with the United Nations Interim Force in southern Lebanon.
The Ghana Armed Forces confirmed in a press release that three other soldiers also sustained minor injuries and are in stable condition.
Fourteen officers lost their accommodation in the attack, but all have been re-kitted, re-accommodated, and provided support.
“The critically injured soldier has successfully undergone surgery and is responding to treatment. All injured soldiers are currently in stable condition,” the statement said.
Despite the incident, the battalion remains in high spirits, with morale reported as strong. The Ghana Armed Forces expressed gratitude to the public for their continued solidarity and support.
The attack underscores the risks faced by Ghanaian troops serving in UN peacekeeping operations, but highlights their resilience and dedication to duty.
