The Ghana Medical Trust Fund, known as Mahama Cares is constructing modern cardiology centres at three of Ghana’s major teaching hospitals – Korle Bu, Komfo Anokye, and Tamale Teaching Hospitals.
This was announced by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communication, in a post on X on Monday, February 23, 2026.

According to him, the centres will be fully equipped with catheterization laboratories, operating theatres, intensive care units, consulting rooms, pharmacies, and dedicated oxygen plants.
The initiative is part of Mahama Cares’ broader mandate to support individuals living with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and to strengthen critical healthcare infrastructure across the country.

Since its inception, Mahama Cares has been providing financial and medical support to patients struggling with the high costs of NCD treatment, while now investing in infrastructure to ensure long-term, comprehensive care.
