Personnel from the Adenta Fire Station of the Ghana Nattional Fire Service(GNFS) have retrieved the body of an 11-year-old boy, Samuel Awalime, who reportedly drowned in a pit at Adenta Aviation in Accra.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the rescue team responded to a distress call regarding the incident, with the operation led by DOIII Obosu, who coordinated the firefighters upon arrival at the scene.
The recovery exercise was conducted in collaboration with personnel from the Ghana Police Service, as well as chiefs and members of the traditional council, who assisted in ensuring the operation was carried out safely and effectively.
After several hours of intensive search and recovery efforts, firefighters successfully retrieved the body of the deceased at about 10:50 a.m.
The body was subsequently handed over to the Adenta Division of the Ghana Police Service for further investigations and the necessary action.
Authorities are expected to conduct investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning incident.
