Six people have been rescued while an unspecified number are feared drowned after a boat carrying displaced persons capsized on the White Volta at Dinie Tuonbo in the Savannah Region.
The victims were reportedly attempting to cross the river when the overloaded boat overturned.
Personnel from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other security agencies have since deployed a rescue team to the area to search for survivors and retrieve bodies.
