President Akufo Addo has urged the media to eschew misinformation, disinformation and maintain high level of credibility.
He said the aforementioned is essentially the responsibility of the media given the threats it poses to us as a continent.
President Akufo Addo made the statement at the Closing ceremony of the 3rd African Media Convention in Accra.
The President who expressed joy for hosting the 3rd African Convention also called on the media in Africa to prioritize environmental sustainability.
He said environmental sustainability should be at the heart of the media in Africa.
He therefore urged the media to play proactive role in educating the public on environmental pollution.
“It is essential for the media to foster the culture of environmental pollution amongst the youth”, President Akufo Addo stated.
President Akufo Addo later assured the media of government’s commitment to ensure Press freedom and safety of Journalists.
He assured the media of his confidence in the Security agencies in the investigations into killing of Ahmed Suale.
He assured that Ahmed Suale’s murders would be found “no matter how long it takes”.
The President expressed his appreciation to the AMC Steering Committee all dignitaries who traveled from far and near for the 3rd African Media Convention 2024 and indicated his readiness to dine with them later in the evening.
Earlier, Speakers such as the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Ababakar, GJA President who are both Co-chair of the event, expressed their gratitude to all Participants.
