Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has paid glowing tribute to the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, one of the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.
Speaking at the interdenominational state funeral on Friday, August 15, the Vice President recalled her admiration for Dr. Boamah’s dedication to public service.
“Your determination to succeed, your desire, your focus on bravery, your resolve was undoubtedly,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said in her emotional tribute.
“You had a positive reaction to the prospect of working more closely with me. I was even more excited by the prospect of learning from you.”
She described the late Defence Minister as a leader who always kept the nation’s interest at heart and was determined to see development through. According to her, Dr. Boamah’s work ethic and collaborative spirit left a lasting impression.
The Vice President urged Ghanaians to honour the legacy of Dr. Boamah and the seven others by continuing the path they envisioned for the country.
The helicopter crash on August 6 claimed the lives of Dr. Omane Boamah, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Samuel Aboagye, Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
