The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers in connection with the fatal shooting of a 54-year-old man and the injury of his wife at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija.
The incident occurred on August 6, 2026, after police received a report that a man and his wife had been shot outside their four-bedroom residence.
The deceased, Mohammed Rahman, was rushed to Finney Hospital in Weija, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His wife, 53-year-old Christiana Fosu, was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she remains on admission and is responding to treatment.
Rahman’s remains have been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police identified the suspects as Adams Adder Almeida and his brother, Bala Bilyon. According to the police, Adams allegedly admitted during interrogation to shooting the couple.
Police said the suspect claimed he was driven to the attack by his belief that Rahman had repeatedly referred to him as “lazy and useless”, which he said had affected him mentally.
Adams later led investigators to a room at Beach Drive Estate where he and his brother reside. Police retrieved a pistol allegedly used in the shooting from beneath a wardrobe.
Investigators say Bala, who works with the deceased, was also arrested after police established that the two brothers live together.
Adams reportedly told investigators that the firearm had been given to him by a friend identified as Gideon. Police subsequently went to Gideon’s residence at Tuba but did not find him. Efforts are underway to locate him as investigations continue.
The two suspects remain in police custody to assist with the investigation.
