The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested two Nigerian nationals over the killing of Nkemujika Uzorchuku Eze, whose body was found in his residence at Sanzirigu, Tamale, on Saturday, 11th July 2026.
The suspects, Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa, were apprehended at Tatale while allegedly attempting to flee into the Republic of Togo. Police said the deceased lived in the same three-bedroom apartment with his wife, the two suspects and another Nigerian national, Godwin Nwafor.
Investigators found the 36-year-old victim lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut to his forehead and a towel stuffed into his mouth. A wooden pestle believed to have been used in the attack was recovered at the scene, while the body was taken to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead before being deposited at the morgue for an autopsy.
Police said the suspects allegedly admitted during interrogation that they conspired to kill the victim, claiming he had withheld proceeds from internet fraud activities.
A subsequent search led to the retrieval of several items believed to have been stolen from the deceased, including mobile phones, laptops, a tablet, jewellery, wristwatches, clothing and personal documents.
The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to appear before court on Monday, 13th July 2026, as investigations continue.
