The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), Simon Madjie, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an enabling business environment to help Ghanaian enterprises grow, scale up and compete in international markets.
Mr Madjie made the remarks at the This is Ghana Exhibition 2026, organised by Accra-based Citi 97.3 FM and Channel One Media in Accra.
He highlighted the critical role of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana’s economy, particularly their contribution to job creation, innovation and economic growth.
According to him, supporting local businesses to expand is essential to strengthening the country’s private sector and creating sustainable economic opportunities.
Mr Madjie also drew attention to GIPA’s expanded mandate under the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority Act, 2026 (Act 1173), which provides the Authority with a broader role in supporting Ghanaian businesses seeking to take their products and services into international markets.
He said the new mandate would enable GIPA to play a more active role in helping local enterprises identify and access opportunities beyond Ghana’s borders.
The GIPA CEO said the Authority remained committed to working with businesses and other stakeholders to create the conditions necessary for Ghanaian enterprises to become more competitive both locally and globally.
The This is Ghana Exhibition 2026 brought together businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase locally produced goods and services, while providing a platform for networking, business promotion and engagement with key stakeholders.
