Shirley Naana Osei-Ampem, the incumbent Eastern Regional Women’s Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), has filed her nomination to seek re-election in the party’s upcoming regional executive elections.
Madam Osei-Ampem is seeking another mandate to continue leading the party’s Women’s Wing in the Eastern Region, with a focus on women’s empowerment, grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the party’s organisational structures.
In messages shared ahead of the regional elections, she reaffirmed her commitment to working with women across the region, describing her bid as an opportunity to consolidate the gains made during her tenure and create more opportunities for women to participate in party activities.
She said her experience working with constituency and branch women organisers had reinforced her determination to continue listening to members, mentoring young women and supporting their leadership development.
Her re-election bid comes as the NDC prepares for its 2026–2030 internal executive elections, which form part of the party’s broader reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
According to the party’s published timetable, nominations for regional executive positions opened on October 6 and closed on October 7, 2026, while the filing of nominations is scheduled for October 14 and 15.
The regional youth and women conferences are scheduled for November 13, with regional elections slated for November 14 and 15.
Madam Osei-Ampem previously retained the Eastern Regional Women’s Organiser position in the party’s 2022 regional elections, polling 39 votes against 34 votes secured by her challenger, Evelyn Korang.
Her latest bid sets the stage for another contest for the leadership of the NDC Women’s Wing in the Eastern Region as aspirants seek the support of delegates ahead of the upcoming polls.
