At least six people have been killed and two others injured following an armed attack on the Chenchire community near Mandari in the Bole District of the Savannah Region.

The incident, which occurred on Thursday, August 28, 2025, left the community deserted as terrified residents fled into the bush for safety.

Police noted that it took hours before villagers emerged to assist officers in locating the victims.

According to a statement issued by the Savannah Regional Police Headquarters, a team led by the Bole Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Alex Adjeivie, was dispatched after reports of the assault reached the police around 2:00 p.m.

On arrival, officers discovered six bodies scattered in different directions across the village. The deceased have been identified as: Nyor Nyawile, aged about 70, Nyoropor Nanii Nuuro, 55, Sachera, 71, Namii Tsipor, 80, and Kwabena Bogara, 29

Two other residents, Sansah Sinkpe, 80, and Sansah Boonie, 43, sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Bole District Hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the deceased have since been conveyed to the Damongo Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The Savannah Regional Police say investigations are underway to determine the cause of the attack and to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Police have also assured residents of increased security patrols in the area to restore calm.
