The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) in the Greater Accra Region in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for La Dade-Kotopon and Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, has distributed relief items to residents affected by recent flooding within the municipality.
The donation exercise, held on Friday, July 3, 2026, formed part of the Assembly’s emergency response measures aimed at providing immediate assistance to households impacted by the floods.
The Municipal Chief Executive for LaDMA, Alfredos Nii Anyetei, said the intervention was intended to support affected families as they recover from the effects of the disaster and rebuild their lives.
The relief items, procured with support from President John Dramani Mahama and the LaDMA Trust, included mattresses, blankets, bags of rice, cooking oil, sardines, tomato paste, mosquito nets, cups, buckets, plates, tea bags, spaghetti and washing basins.
Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) supervised the sorting and distribution of the items to ensure a transparent and orderly process, with all identified beneficiaries receiving support.
The exercise was attended by Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, the Presiding Member, Assembly Members, NADMO officials and staff of the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly.
Addressing beneficiaries, the municipal leadership reaffirmed government’s commitment to providing timely support to communities affected by disasters and ensuring that vulnerable residents receive the assistance they need.
Residents were also encouraged to continue observing safety precautions during the rainy season and to cooperate with authorities on disaster preparedness and flood prevention measures.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to President Mahama, the LaDMA Trust, the Member of Parliament, the Municipal Chief Executive and all stakeholders involved in the intervention, describing the support as timely and critical to their recovery efforts.
