Management and staff of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) have joined the nationwide sanitation exercise initiated by President John Dramani Mahama in the aftermath of the devastating June 29 floods.
The exercise, led by Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Richard Nunekpeku, saw staff members participate in a clean-up operation aimed at improving environmental sanitation and reducing flood risks within parts of Accra.
As part of the exercise, the team cleaned the premises of the GoldBod Headquarters and adjoining areas, including the precincts of the Ghana Library Authority, the SIC Mall, and sections of the Makola Market enclave.
The initiative formed part of the broader two-day national clean-up campaign launched by the government under the theme “Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods.”
GoldBod said its participation reflects the institution’s commitment to environmental cleanliness, public health, and national development, while supporting efforts to build more resilient and sustainable communities.
The nationwide exercise has attracted participation from government institutions, security agencies, private organisations, traditional authorities, and community groups as Ghana intensifies efforts to restore affected areas and improve sanitation following the recent flooding.
