The Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Prince Obeng, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Greater Accra Regional second Vice Chairman ahead of the party’s upcoming regional executive elections.

In a statement announcing his candidature, Mr. Obeng said his decision followed extensive consultations with party elders, constituency executives, grassroots members and other stakeholders across the region, who encouraged him to seek a broader leadership role within the party.

According to him, his two decades of service in various capacities within the NPP have equipped him with the experience and institutional knowledge needed to help strengthen the party’s structures in the Greater Accra Region.

Mr. Obeng recounted his political journey, which began as Deputy Youth Organiser before becoming Constituency Youth Organiser.

He later served as Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser and subsequently completed two consecutive terms as the party’s Greater Accra Regional Organiser.

He said these leadership roles had provided him with a deep understanding of the party’s organisational strengths and challenges, as well as the practical measures needed to improve coordination and grassroots mobilisation.

Outlining his vision, Mr. Obeng pledged to promote unity within the Regional Executive Committee, strengthen collaboration among constituency executives and enhance grassroots engagement if elected.

He also promised to support all constituencies without bias, improve communication within the party and help build a disciplined and election-ready regional organisation.

“I will work tirelessly to strengthen collaboration among all executives, support every constituency without bias, deepen grassroots engagement, and ensure that our party remains disciplined, organised and election-ready,” he stated.

Mr. Obeng further expressed confidence that a united and well-organised Greater Accra NPP would position the party for success in future elections.

He appealed to delegates and party members to support his bid, describing leadership as an opportunity to serve rather than occupy office.

The aspiring Regional second Vice Chairman concluded by calling for unity within the party as it prepares for the next general election, urging members to work together towards securing victory for the NPP and its presidential candidate.
