The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has delivered a mid-year update on Ghana’s education sector, reaffirming the Mahama administration’s dedication to providing accessible and high-quality education for all.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, June 18, the Minister revealed that more than 2,000 reform proposals were submitted by stakeholders during the recent National Education Forum.

These include key suggestions aimed at enhancing the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
He noted that President Mahama remains committed to fully implementing the forum’s recommendations to strengthen the sector.
Highlighting progress under the “No Fees Stress” initiative launched through the Students Loan Trust Fund, Mr. Iddrisu announced that over 129,000 students have already benefited from the programme, which aims to ease the financial burden of tertiary education.

The Minister emphasized that the government’s core priorities remain expanding access, improving quality, and promoting equity and accountability across all levels of education.
