The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected new regional executives as part of efforts to reorganise its structures and strengthen its grassroots base ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The regional executive elections were held across the country on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with several of the contests for regional chairperson ending in closely fought races.
Based on provisional results announced by Electoral Commission officials who supervised the elections, the following candidates emerged as regional chairpersons-elect:
- Western Region: Ignatius Kwesi Afrifa
- Savannah Region: Alhaji Iddrissu
- Bono Region: Kwame Baffoe Abronye
- Greater Accra Region: Dr Bernard Okoe Boye
- Ashanti Region: Odeneho Kwaku Appiah
- Eastern Region: Jeff Konadu Addo
- Central Region: Joseph Kobinah Esibu
- Western North Region: Result pending
- Ahafo Region: Robert Sarfo Mensah
- Northern Region: Mohammed Baatima Adam (Samba)
- North East Region: Alhaji Mohammed Fuseini
- Upper East Region: Elvis Figo Awonekai
- Upper West Region: Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman
- Volta Region: Makafui Kofi Woanyah
- Oti Region: Dr Frank Yirenkyi
- Bono East Region: Ibrahim Bukari Baba
The Western North Region remains the only region among the 16 where a final result was not immediately available.
The elections form part of the NPP’s broader reorganisation exercise aimed at rebuilding its structures, strengthening grassroots mobilisation and preparing the party for the 2028 elections.
The newly elected regional chairpersons are expected to work with their respective executives to coordinate party activities, deepen grassroots engagement and lead mobilisation efforts as the NPP enters the next phase of its political reorganisation.
