Thirteen staff members of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) are set to formally join the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), popularly known as Mahama Cares, after spending a year helping to establish and operationalise the Fund
The officers were seconded to the GMTF when the Fund was being set up and played a role in building its systems and operations.
Speaking at the ceremony to formally release the officers, Dr. Bampoe commended them for accepting the responsibility of helping establish a new institution.
“When the Ghana Medical Trust Fund was established, these officers answered the call to serve. They left familiar roles within the NHIA and took on the task of helping build a new institution from the ground up. Today, as they officially join the Fund, we celebrate their courage, commitment and the impact they have made.”
Dr. Bampoe said the continued development of Ghana’s health sector required institutions to work together towards a common goal.
“The work of strengthening Ghana’s health system requires collaboration and shared purpose. Although they will now wear different badges, they remain part of a broader family working to improve the lives of Ghanaians. We are proud of them and grateful for their service.”
He also expressed the NHIA’s appreciation to the 13 officers for their dedication and contribution to the Authority, assuring them of its continued support as they take up their new responsibilities at the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
