Two members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Eastern Region have petitioned the party’s Regional Vetting Committee to disqualify Daaku Naana Boadiwa from contesting the position of Regional Women’s Organiser, alleging that she does not meet key eligibility requirements under the party’s guidelines.
The petition, dated Thursday, October 15, 2026, was submitted by Isaac Mawuli Senyo and Atitso Eric, who argue that Ms. Boadiwa has failed to satisfy three mandatory conditions under Clause 7 of the party’s guidelines for regional executive elections.
The petitioners challenge her eligibility on grounds of party membership, active participation in the NDC over the preceding four years, and the requirement to have previously held an executive position within the party or an NDC government.
“These are not technicalities. They are the Party’s safeguard that its Regional leadership is drawn from tested, loyal members who have stood with the NDC through opposition, not those who arrive only after victory,” the petition states.
The petitioners question the validity and duration of Ms. Boadiwa’s party membership, alleging that her membership identification number, F140050218, reflects a manipulated registration in the party’s register for the RC Primary, Adeiso branch.
They claim the registration involved the removal of an existing name to accommodate Ms. Boadiwa, allegedly to enable her to meet the four-year membership requirement.
The petition further alleges that a second registration bearing identification number F140108005 appears in the branch register for the Shining Star Preparatory, Adeiso branch.
“An honest member has one membership number. Two numbers, both of them irregular, point to an attempt to manufacture a membership history that does not exist,” the petition states.
The petitioners have urged the vetting committee to verify both entries against the party’s official register and take appropriate action if irregularities are established.
They also question Ms. Boadiwa’s record of active participation in the NDC, alleging that she worked with the Ministry of Communications under the Government Digital Addressing Programme (GDAP) during the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to the petition, while NDC members were organising and campaigning in opposition, she was employed under an NPP administration.
The petitioners allege that she played no visible role in the party’s opposition activities and only emerged to seek a regional executive position after the NDC’s electoral victory.
“She has surfaced only now, after the NDC’s victory, and not to serve at branch or constituency level, but to claim one of the highest offices in the Region,” the petition states.
They further argue that Ms. Boadiwa has never held an executive position within the NDC or an NDC government, which they say constitutes another ground for disqualification under Clause 7 of the party’s guidelines.
The petitioners maintain that the position of Regional Women’s Organiser requires a candidate with a proven record of commitment and service, given the role’s responsibility in mobilising women across constituencies and strengthening the party’s grassroots structures.
“Clearing Ms. Daaku Naana Boadiwa would send the wrong message to the thousands of women who kept the Party alive in opposition: that loyalty counts for nothing, and that the rules bend for latecomers,” the petition states.
The petitioners are asking the Regional Vetting Committee to declare Ms. Boadiwa ineligible to contest the position for allegedly failing to meet the requirements under Clause 7 (I), (II) and (IV).
They are also seeking verification of the two membership identification numbers cited in the petition and appropriate disciplinary action if irregularities or doctored entries are established.
