The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has presented the final batch of scholarships under his scholarship scheme, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to more than 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The initiative is aimed at supporting students facing financial difficulties and ensuring that promising individuals can continue their education without the burden of unpaid school fees.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah said his personal understanding of the challenges associated with paying school fees had motivated him to establish the scholarship scheme.
He noted that financial difficulties could threaten students’ academic ambitions, stressing the importance of providing assistance to those who might otherwise struggle to complete their education.
“I know what it means to struggle to pay school fees.
I know how painful it can be when a student’s dreams are threatened simply because of financial difficulties.
That is why this initiative means so much to me,” he said.
The MP expressed his commitment to helping students overcome financial barriers to education, emphasising that no promising student should be forced to abandon their dreams because they cannot afford school fees.
The Kumasi Metropolitan Education Director, alongside students, parents and guardians, attended the ceremony to witness the presentation of the final batch of scholarships.
The MP’s latest presentation marks the completion of the current round of awards, with more than 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students having benefited from the initiative.
The intervention forms part of efforts to improve access to higher education and provide financial relief to students and their families.
