A campaign message advocating the retention of Mustapha Gbande, popularly known as Foyo, in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy General Secretary race has highlighted his experience, organisational knowledge and grassroots connections as reasons for his continued service.
Under the slogan “Retain Foyo: Steady Hands for a Party in Government,” the message argues that Gbande’s four years at the heart of the party’s General Secretariat have given him an understanding of its structures, constituencies, regions and grassroots networks.
It maintains that his experience would enable him to continue working without the need for a transition period, describing him as someone who already understands the demands of the position.
The message also credits Gbande with contributing to the NDC’s return to power in the 2024 general elections, describing him as part of the team that helped secure the party’s victory.
On his work ethic, the campaign message portrays him as hardworking, accessible and committed, adding that he remains available when called upon by the party.
It further emphasises his grassroots background, arguing that his progression through the party’s ranks has given him an understanding of the concerns and frustrations of party foot soldiers.
The appeal frames his retention as important to the NDC’s preparations for the 2028 general elections, arguing that the party needs experienced personnel as it governs and prepares for another electoral contest.
The message concludes with a call for continuity in the Deputy General Secretary race presenting Gbande as a candidate whose experience and familiarity with the party could support its organisational needs.
