The Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, has called on investors to explore business opportunities in the Savannah Region, particularly in ventures that create jobs, add value to local resources and improve the livelihoods of host communities.
He made the appeal during an engagement with a delegation from the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), led by its Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr Abdul Razak Baba, ahead of the Savannah Regional Investment Forum.
The forum forms part of GIPA’s Investment Opportunities Mapping Project (IOMP), which seeks to identify and promote viable investment opportunities across the country.
The Yagbonwura identified agriculture, particularly rice cultivation and agro-processing, as key areas with investment potential in the region.
He emphasised the importance of inclusive economic growth, urging investors to pursue projects that ensure local communities benefit from the economic activities taking place in their areas.
Mr Baba reaffirmed GIPA’s commitment to attracting private sector investment into the Savannah Region.
He also disclosed plans to establish a GIPA office in the region to strengthen engagement with investors and provide support to businesses seeking to operate there.
The delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Damongo-Wura, Kelly Seidu Boreasa I, who pledged the support of traditional authorities for initiatives aimed at attracting investment and accelerating development in the region.
The engagements form part of GIPA’s broader efforts to identify bankable investment opportunities across Ghana.
The Savannah Region is expected to be featured at the upcoming Invest Ghana Summit in Accra, where its investment prospects will be presented to potential investors.
