The newly elected executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the La- Dadekotopon Constituency of the Greater Accra Region have paid a courtesy call on the La Traditional Council to introduce their leadership and seek the Council’s guidance and support.

The delegation was led by Constituency Chairman Samuel Sowah Oblejumah and included the Member of Parliament for the area, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Alfredos Anyetei.

The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen relations between the party’s new leadership and traditional authorities while promoting cooperation on issues affecting the constituency.

Addressing the Council, Chairman Oblejumah expressed appreciation to the traditional authorities for their contributions towards the successful conduct of the party’s constituency elections.

He also outlined the new administration’s vision, emphasising its commitment to initiatives that would promote development and improve the welfare of residents.

Among the priorities identified were the completion of ongoing development projects, support for efforts to complete the La General Hospital, and the organisation of free vacation classes for Senior High School (SHS) and tertiary students to improve their academic performance.

Chairman Oblejumah further pledged to manage the constituency in line with sound corporate governance principles, with the ambition of making La Dadekotopon one of the best-administered constituencies in the country.

Congratulating the newly elected executives, Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, La Shikitele, who spoke on behalf of the La Traditional Council, urged them to remain united, work harmoniously and prioritise the collective interests of the constituency over individual ambitions.

He encouraged the executives to work with relevant stakeholders to address the growing incidence of social vices in the community, stressing the importance of collective action to promote discipline, peace and responsible conduct among residents.

Nii Adjei Koofeh IV also called for efforts to find lasting solutions to the indiscriminate blocking of roads for social activities, noting that such practices could inconvenience residents and disrupt the movement of people and vehicles.

He underscored the importance of cooperation between political leaders and traditional authorities in tackling community challenges and advancing development across the La Traditional Area.

Other traditional leaders who attended the meeting included Nii Obodai Adai IV, La Mankralo; Nii Yemo Din II, La Akwashontse; Miyemliniaba Nii Adjei Asua Oweeni I, Agbawe Mantse; Professor Nii Ablade Glover, representative of Kowe and adviser to the Council; and Nii Anum Tetteh, Chief Linguist.
