The Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Hajia Abdul Aziz, has called for increased investment in women, young people and agriculture, describing the sector as a critical driver of economic transformation, job creation and sustainable development.

She said empowering women and equipping the youth with skills, while strengthening the agricultural sector, would help improve household incomes and build resilient communities.

The MP made the remarks while chairing a youth empowerment forum and coconut seedling distribution programme organised by the Atidefe Foundation in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region.

Miss Abdul Aziz commended the foundation for its efforts to create opportunities for vulnerable groups and improve livelihoods, stressing that sustained investment in women remains key to national development.

She revealed that she had recently organised a skills training programme for about 500 women in her Savelugu Constituency to empower them with practical knowledge and opportunities to enhance their economic well-being.

The legislator also encouraged individuals, organisations and development partners to invest in agriculture, particularly coconut cultivation, which she described as a viable avenue for employment, income generation and economic growth.

She urged beneficiaries of the coconut seedlings to nurture them as long-term investments capable of improving their livelihoods rather than viewing them as ordinary gifts.

Miss Abdul Aziz further encouraged young people to take advantage of educational and skills development opportunities, while embracing discipline, hard work and perseverance as essential values for personal and national development.
