The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has received a delegation from the Northern Regional House of Chiefs following the passing of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II.
The delegation paid a courtesy visit to the GRA Management to formally communicate the news of the Ya-Na’s passing and provide an update on the customary arrangements and processes following his death.
Led by the Paramount Chief of the Pishigu Traditional Area, Naa Bapir Pishigu-Lana Alhassan Andani, the delegation included other traditional leaders, among them the Paramount Chiefs of the Sakpe, Dalung and Nyankpala Traditional Areas, as well as representatives of the Dagbamba community in Accra.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the traditional leaders conveyed the solemn message from the elders and kingmakers of Dagbon and briefed the GRA Management on the ongoing Regency and succession process in line with Dagbon’s customs and traditions.
Receiving the delegation, Commissioner-General of the GRA, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, expressed the Authority’s deepest condolences to the people of Dagbon following the loss of the revered traditional leader.
Mr. Sarpong also reaffirmed the GRA’s support and solidarity with the people of Dagbon during this period of mourning, acknowledging the significance of the late Ya-Na’s leadership and contribution to the traditional area.
