The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) has begun discussions with MDS-Lancet Laboratories and Quest Medical Imaging to strengthen access to quality diagnostic services for beneficiaries under the Ghana Medical Trust Fund Patient Support Programme.
The Administrator of the Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, led a delegation on a working visit to the two facilities as part of efforts to establish partnerships that will improve specialised healthcare delivery and support patients requiring critical medical services.
The visit started with a meeting between the GMTF delegation and the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of MDS-Lancet Laboratories, Dr. Paul Sekyere-Nyantakyi, alongside his management team.
Discussions focused on how MDS-Lancet’s nationwide laboratory network could be leveraged to provide timely and reliable diagnostic services to beneficiaries of the Trust Fund programme.
The engagement also considered aligning services with approved GMTF tariffs to promote efficient, transparent and sustainable healthcare delivery.
The delegation later toured MDS-Lancet’s laboratory facilities, led by the Operations Manager, Dr. Georgette M. Peprah, where they observed the operations of various departments including phlebotomy and sample collection, microbiology, biochemistry, haematology and pathology.
The team also visited the procurement, stores, biomedical engineering, information technology, finance and logistics units to gain insight into the systems and processes supporting the laboratory’s diagnostic operations.
The working visit ended at Quest Medical Imaging, a sister facility of MDS-Lancet, where the delegation inspected its advanced imaging centre equipped to provide services such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) scans, mammography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound and digital X-ray.
The GMTF said the engagement forms part of its commitment to expanding access to specialised diagnostics, which remains a critical component of effective treatment and improved patient outcomes.
The Trust Fund added that through strategic partnerships with leading healthcare providers, it aims to bring quality and life-saving healthcare services closer to more patients across Ghana.
