Ghana is set to introduce AI-powered educational tools in local languages—including Twi, Ewe, Dagbani, and Hausa—through a partnership with Google.
The initiative aims to improve access to quality education and digital skills across the country.
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu said the AI tools, including curriculum-aligned content and speech recognition for non-standard speech, will be deployed on a zero-rated basis to ensure accessibility for all learners.

“Ghana is not just participating in the AI revolution, we are helping to shape it for Africa,” he added, highlighting the focus on inclusivity and positioning the country as a hub for AI-driven learning.
This comes as part of Google’s US$37 million investment in AI research and education in Africa, with Ghana hosting a new AI Community Center in Accra.
