The Controlled Food Suppliers Association (CFSA) has announced plans to embark on a five-day peaceful demonstration at the premises of the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) in Accra over outstanding payments for food items supplied under the Free Senior
High School (Free SHS) programme in 2024.
The demonstration, scheduled for Monday, November 16, to Friday, November 20, 2026, is intended to demand the immediate settlement of debts owed to members of the association.
In a letter dated October 30, 2026, and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Commodity Exchange, the association said the decision followed prolonged delays in receiving payments for supplies delivered under the programme.
The letter, signed on behalf of the association, said its leadership had consistently acted in good faith in pursuing the outstanding payments but had yet to secure a resolution.
It attributed the planned action to persistent delays despite repeated follow-ups with the Exchange.
The association also cited an earlier two-week notice issued to the GCX on October 7, 2026, which expired on October 21 without the payment issue being resolved.
According to the CFSA, the failure to address its demands has left it with little choice but to resort to a public demonstration to press for the settlement of the outstanding amounts.
Describing the decision as difficult but necessary, the association said the protest would take place at the GCX premises on Tumu Avenue, Kanda, in Accra.
The CFSA further disclosed that it had notified the Ghana Police Service of the planned demonstration in accordance with the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).
The association is demanding immediate payment of the money owed to its members for food items supplied to senior high schools in 2024 under the Free SHS programme.
