President John Dramani Mahama is expected in Antigua and Barbuda on Monday evening to participate in the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), convened by King Charles III.
The summit will bring together heads of government, ministers, business leaders and representatives of civil society and youth organisations from across the Commonwealth to discuss shared priorities and strengthen cooperation among member countries.
The 2026 meeting, which marks President Mahama’s first participation since his re-election in December 2024, will be held under the theme, “Accelerating Partnership and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth.”
The theme places emphasis on strengthening international partnerships, mobilising investment and promoting sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity across member states.
During the summit, President Mahama is expected to engage fellow Commonwealth leaders on economic cooperation, trade, investment and sustainable development.
He is also scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with several heads of state and government during his two-day visit to St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.
CHOGM is a major diplomatic gathering of Commonwealth leaders, providing an opportunity to discuss regional and global challenges, strengthen relations and coordinate responses to issues affecting member countries.
