Residents of Kwahu Kotoso are demanding answers following the mysterious deaths of three children within the space of a month, an incident that has sparked fear, anger, and protests in the community.
The children, who reportedly went missing at different times, were later found dead under circumstances that remain unclear.
The incidents have left residents deeply unsettled, with many calling for swift action from security agencies.
The deaths triggered a demonstration in the community, during which residents marched to the chief’s palace to demand justice and improved security.
The protest also led to the temporary closure of both public and private schools, as demonstrators accused traditional authorities of not doing enough to address the situation.
Some protesters were seen carrying sticks and cutlasses, prompting police officers to intervene to maintain law and order and prevent the demonstration from escalating into violence.
Although some residents have speculated about possible ritual killings, no official conclusion has been reached, and police say investigations into the deaths are ongoing.
Speaking after the protest, the Akwamuhene of Kwahu Kotoso, Nana Ampomah Kwakye, appealed to residents to remain calm and allow investigators to complete their work.
He assured the community that the traditional council is collaborating with the police and other security agencies to establish the facts surrounding the deaths.
He also announced plans for a peaceful demonstration on Saturday to press for justice for the deceased children and to advocate stronger security measures to protect residents.
Police have yet to announce any arrests or provide further details as investigations continue.
