The Member of Parliament for Agona East Constiteuncy in the Central Region, Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyer, has reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that every community in the constituency benefits from development initiatives, assuring residents that she remains focused on delivering on her campaign promises.
Speaking at the unveling and handover of a newly constructed astroturf at Agona Nantifa, the MP described the facility as the fulfilment of a key pledge she made to the community during the 2024 election campaign.
She said the astroturf would promote youth development, encourage sports participation, support talent identification, and provide a safe recreational space for residents.
Hon. Sawyer noted that the sports facility forms part of a broader development agenda for the constituency, revealing that several education, health, and road infrastructure projects are at various stages of completion and will be inaugurated in the coming months.
She also disclosed that discussions have been held with prospective investors interested in establishing factories in the constituency to create jobs for young people and stimulate local economic growth.
The MP appealed to chiefs and residents to continue supporting her leadership and the development agenda of President John Dramani Mahama, assuring them that additional projects would be rolled out across the constituency.
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who attended the event, commended the MP for honouring her promise to the people of Agona Nantifa.
He urged the community to protect and maintain the astroturf, stressing that poor maintenance remains one of the country’s major development challenges.
He called on residents to take collective responsibility for preserving the facility to ensure it serves future generations and pledged his continued support for development initiatives in the constituency.
The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Richard Kofi Asiedu, also praised the MP for her dedication to the development of Agona East.
He noted that several projects are currently underway in different communities and encouraged residents to continue supporting her efforts.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Agona Nantifa appealed to the government to consider appointing Hon. Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyer to a ministerial position, citing her experience, commitment, and contribution to the development of the constituency.
He expressed confidence that such an appointment would further accelerate development and improve the welfare of the people of Agona East.
